The Westshore by James Xiang
The Westshore by James Xiang
This is a typical beach in the west shore of Vancouver Island. Driftwoods are just about everywhere along the beach. I found this giant tree lying on the beach on the other day, and its root formed an interesting foreground for this photo. This is really where we live.

Sometimes in life, it’s those moments that at first feel like a nuisance become something really special. A trip to Patagonia is never complete without a flat tire and with no luck finding someone in El Chalten I headed to El Calafate for what ended up being an 8-hour return trip and missing the overnight camp at Cerro Torre, one of my favorite mountains in the world. So for sunrise, I headed up the road for the perfect road shot with Mt Fitz Roy in the background. Setting my camera up on the road I waited for several buses and cars to whizz honking their horns and hurling abuse from the window. I didn’t care because I got what I was after, some sweet light trails and that’s perfect glow before sunrise.

A Grey Headed Flying Fox a split second after hitting the water takes off to lick the water off its fur. Sometimes when they hit the water too hard they can make quite a splash.

There is always a new begining. Doors are unlimited, always open, if one closes and that moment the other opens.
