Canmore As seen from Policeman’s Creek. Part of an interesting discussion I had with some other photographers there that morning was whether you move anything in a scene to suit composition. We ended up moving this piece of wood which was probably 1-1.5m long. I didn’t see it as an issue but one of the other photographers there was reluctant to. What do you think?

Beautiful Lemaire Channel in Antarctica. That’s one of my favorite places in Antarctica. And that’s our turning point. We tried to reach Vernadsky station further to the south, but Lemaire was completely blocked by ice.

Winter Fairytales by Daniel He...
Winter Fairytales by Daniel Herr
How clear, how lovely bright,
How beautiful to sight
Those beams of morning play;
How heaven laughs out with glee
Where, like a bird set free,
Up from the eastern sea
Soars the delightful day. To-day I shall be strong,
No more shall yield to wrong,
Shall squander life no more;
Days lost, I know not how,
I shall retrieve them now;
Now I shall keep the vow
I never kept before. Ensanguining the skies
How heavily it dies
Into the west away;
Past touch and sight and sound
Not further to be found,
How hopeless under ground
Falls the remorseful day. (A.E. Housman)
