AMPHITHEATRE OF THE FALLEN by William Patino

Living in Fiordland has granted me the opportunity to pursue adverse and powerful weather events, such as this particular day when over a foot of rain fell in the valleys and fiords – half of Sydneys annual rainfall in one day. The overwhelming sight of the waterfalls in the Cleddau Valley truly moved me to the core, with the sight and sound of hundreds of waterfalls roaring in every direction, rivalled only by the thunderous river that became a junction for all. I felt so small, so humbled and privileged to be in the presence of such beauty and power. I was in the Cleddau River for this shot, in the pouring rain and after a solid half hour of battling the conditions, I managed to get a usable frame.

Who could believe that Antarctica might be green! Once we climbed this ridge up the slippery wet glacier we were amazed by panorama of Orney harbor opened to our eyes. Upon getting back to the harbor another surprise waited for us. All harbor was stuck with ice. All the ice you see down below moved with the wind and blocked the passage to the ship from a shore. But that’s another story to be told later…
