The day before yesterday my photography friend Maxim Guselnikov was expelled from 500px – not because of nudity, but because of mentioning some promoting word about his own media (which I did on a regular basis as well). Although Maxims profile is restored now (he told me BTW that obviously he was expelled “automatically”, without any human moderator’s action, as 500px-Helpdesk told him afterwards – WTF???) there still is the fact that this platform (and all other platforms as well) can do anything with you, with your data, with your efforts, building a network, … I yesterday deleted all URLs to my media in all my picture descriptions and will in any case search for respectful alternative to this dying platform … and of course push my own media, which belong to me and to nobody else. In former descriptions, I now would have written: “If you are interested in my work, don’t hesitate to subscribe to my newsletter, which you can find in XXX.YYY.ZZZ – nowadays I kindly invite you to search for EIKONAS, search for my newsletter form there and then you are kindly invited to subsribe, if you are happy with my work and want to follow me further. Make sure to spare your whole afternoon when you plan a visit. Oh, and if you’re up for a 14km kayak challenge, epic views on Spirit Island awaits! We visited this place last summer.
