OK, perhaps I did trick you with the title of this photo. You were anticipating some stunning, slinky girl in a bikini, as one might expect from the photographers around here at 500px who are better than myself. But, in my own defense, 40% of my caption is, in fact, correct: this photo was taken at a beach in Russia. Since only 1% of 500px-ers take the time to read the descriptions accompanying uploads, I’m giving you 100 bonus points! The halfway geographically-literate among you will assume the aforementioned beach was in Sochi. Nope! Anapi? No. Голубицкая? Wrong again, my friend! So, you ask yourself, where else is there a beach in Russia with photogenic passers-by? Yes, that’s correct, this picture was taken in exotic Makhachkala, on the Caspian Sea. On this one evening during my vacation in the Republic of Dagestan I bumped into Anastasia, from Krasnodar. While I can’t offer you a hot picture of her in a bikini, perhaps you’ll find her face attractive enough to give this photo a like. Technical notes: I positioned her in the last splash of sunlight that was shining through from the sunset, and her friend, standing off to my left, held my remote flash to fill in the shadows a bit. There was a strong wind blowing in from the water, and I didn’t even bother to erase all those individual strands of hair in post. Lastly, if you look carefully enough, you’ll see the coast of Kazakhstan on the horizon. 12: 17
