Nautilus by Erez Marom

One of the most amazing sights I’ve seen in Iceland was the opening to this ice cave in Vatnajökull Glacier. It was December 2011 and I was scouting locations for my ‘Land of Ice‘ workshop, when a local guide led us to the hidden cave. I absolutely love shooting ice caves. The patterns, colors and reflections are mind boggling, and convey the true sensation of being inside a natural wonder.
You can read an article explaining how I achieved this shot here. Join me to experience and shoot these amazing locations yourself! Next winter’s ‘Land of Ice‘ (southern Iceland), ‘Winter Paradise‘ (northern Iceland) and ‘Northern Spirits‘ (Lofoten Islands) workshops are available on my website. Please have a look and consider joining us on one or more of these wonderful trips. Any questions? Just contact me! You’re welcome to follow me on facebook , Google+ and Twitter, where you can get a first look at my images, as well as get all the info about my work, photo tours and other news. Glacial by Jay Daley

www.flickr.com/photos/jaydaley/14926539557/in/photostream/ After a sub zero night at the White Horse Hill campground we emerged from our tents at 4am to see a completely clear night sky above us. Keeping faith for some morning colour we set out on the hike through the Hooker Valley Trail to arrive at hooker glacier a little before first light. Slowly but surely the stars began to fade away under light clouds, which were rolling in right on schedule for sunrise. The evening before we had explored all of the possible compositions and I knew that my sunrise shot would be at the mouth of the frozen lake, which had over night, lightly frozen over into a mirrored thin sheet of ice with incredible reflections of New Zealand highest peak above it. A huge thanks to my good mate Tim Poulton and One Of A Kind and to the other great 6 photographers who made this 6 days one to remember.
