As the quaint, little town of Pahoa becomes ever closer to being consumed by lava, my thoughts and prayers are with our friends and neighbors whose homes, property, and businesses lie in its path. So beautiful and destructive… creative and dynamic… This is life on a volcanic island.

A Moment in Time by Exploring ...
A Moment in Time by Exploring Light Photography
Sunrise light illuminates Mt. Rainier, photographed from high in the Tatoosh Range wilderness. One of the most impressive displays of light I have ever witnessed. “A Moment in Time” is titled to reflect the moments that we as photographers live for. The fleeting moments when the spirit and drama of nature present themselves. The moments in time when the weather, the light, and the subject matter fall into place naturally, and create a powerful visual experience. This is one moment I can live over and over again, each time I look at this photograph. It is perhaps my favorite photograph I have taken to date. You may have seen some other shots from this particular morning… Marc A has an amazing shot and was standing about 30 meters to my left. A few of us who were still in the area hiked out by headlamp at 3am to about 5000 feet elevation above a marine layer that blanketed the lower elevations. My camera was just a few inches from the nearest flower in this patch of heather in the foreground, and to get low enough I had to carefully balance my camera on a rock just a few inches above the ground. I took several exposures to blend focal points, and blended with the sky. I’ll be back to post more photos in a few months. Until then please check my Website for more of my work, and follow me on Facebook to see more new work. Cheers.

View on black One small arch and then one massive arch. I know.. I know, people are probably a bit sick of seeing the Galaxy over Delicate Arch. However I really wanted to put my own spin on it with a full 180 degree Milky Way Panorama. Its one of my favorite types of images to create. I was created using 15 vertical images to give the wide perspective. I used ISO 6400 on the images to get just enough detail on the foreground. Hope you guys enjoy this one, sharing is always appreciated.
