Gently Touched by Stefan Hefele

“Gently Touched” – Death Valley What can I say here? This was an epic fusion of light and elements – impossible to put into words. With me in the middle of the spectacle I definitely was one of the happiest landscape photographers on the planet for the moment!
My buddy Felix and me persist the whole day in the extreme heat of the Death Valley. While only a handful of people got lost in this remote place, we had plenty of time to observe the weather and clouds. With this output we were more than rewarded. Prints and licensing available. Day Two by Sam Assadi

Day Two by Sam Assadi

Day 1: I had planned to shoot at sunset on the first day of my trip. I found an awesome spot, and felt like that I was going to take the shot of my life. It was a high tide and I could see three-meter waves in the distance. I did lots of mental calculations and convinced myself that waves would not pass up my knee from where I was standing. Then I turned back, and got busy doing final adjustments, but suddenly heard a big roar and bang! Water splashed up to my chest. I was caught in a big wave but luckily didn’t fall over. I instantly looked at my camera to find out that it was all wetโ€ฆ I had to rush back to motel to use tissue and dryer to dry it up. I did not take a single shot on the first day! Day 2: I was so happy that my camera could survive sea water. I put on the second set of clothes that I had brought with me. So, I was ready for sunrise shots next day. I was giggling to myself that I was so wise to bring a spare clothes for a one-day trip. It was a high tide again and waves were even bigger than the day before. I decided to keep a reasonable distance from the ocean this time. Now just my feet were in the water. I started clicking and this shot was one the first ones that I took. I continued shooting for half an hour or so until I was ambushed by the mother nature again; I caught in an odd big wave which went up to my wristโ€ฆ Water was still dribbling from my shorts when I was checking out from the motel an hour later. Anyway, at least I was happy with the outcome. Hope that you’ll like it too!
