Some of the music industry's biggest names are preparing for a busy weekend of performing and traveling in preparation for the Summer Sonic festival, held simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, from August 20-21, 2016. Inaugurated in 2000, the Summer Sonic rock music festival initially placed equal important on international and local musicians. For its first edition, for example, the lineup featured the likes of Muse, Greenday and Weezer alongside Japanese bands Eastern Youth, Dragon Ash and Quruli.

Shazam — that app you probably used to figure out who Nico & Vinz are — is getting its own game show. In a branded take on the Name That Tune formula, contestants will try and identify music quicker than the app and each other. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beat Shazam will pit contestants against one another to see who can identify songs the fastest.

Shazam, the smartphone app that can identify full songs and tracks from short clips, is at the center of a new game show ordered by US network Fox. Just like the app itself, TV show "Beat Shazam" has contestants trying to identify the name and artist or group credited for an untitled track. The episode's best contestants are then matched up against Shazam, whose consumer-grade software is available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phones, as well as Mac and Windows computers.

The weather might be getting cooler, but the anticipation for some of this year's eagerly-awaited music shows is heating up. Whether you're a rocker, a popper or a rapper, fall has some exciting performances (and even some music-based movies) lined up. Kicking off on August 25, Puff Daddy will be taking the Bad Boy Records family on tour, featuring performances of the record label's greatest hits by Lil' Kim, MASE, Faith Evans, Mario Winans, 112, Total, Carl Thomas, The Lox, French Montana and Puff Daddy himself.

MANSFIELD, Ohio (AP) — A Michigan man has been charged with felony drug trafficking after 24 people were sickened at an Ohio rap music festival when they ate candy laced with the marijuana ingredient THC.

Biffy Clyro will debut what they are calling the "UK's first immersive music video" using virtual reality technology, at UK festivals this summer. The technology, powered by Samsung, is contained in a three-and-a-half-storey portable studio dubbed the Samsung Hypercube and will allow fans to witness a virtual live performance of the band performing their track "Flammable". Accoding to Samsung's creative Ross Cairn the brand's collaboration with Biffy Clyro was borne from "a desire to bring the best parts of live music to an audience so people can feel closer to the band than ever before.
