Some of the music industry's biggest names are preparing for a busy weekend of performing and traveling in preparation for the Summer Sonic festival, held simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, from August 20-21, 2016. Inaugurated in 2000, the Summer Sonic rock music festival initially placed equal important on international and local musicians. For its first edition, for example, the lineup featured the likes of Muse, Greenday and Weezer alongside Japanese bands Eastern Youth, Dragon Ash and Quruli.

In a branded take on the Name That Tune formula, contestants will try and identify music quicker than the app and each other. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beat Shazam will pit contestants against one another to see who can identify songs the fastest.

Shazam, the smartphone app that can identify full songs and tracks from short clips, is at the center of a new game show ordered by US network Fox. Just like the app itself, TV show "Beat Shazam" has contestants trying to identify the name and artist or group credited for an untitled track. The episode's best contestants are then matched up against Shazam, whose consumer-grade software is available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phones, as well as Mac and Windows computers.
