Jack White, the multidisciplinary musician with eight Grammy Awards to his name, has announced "Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016," a career-spanning catalogue to be released on double CD, double LP, and digital platforms next month. The album will be relased via Columbia and Third Man Records. The Third Man label was launched by Jack White in Detroit, Michigan, in 2001, and opened its current headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009.

The MTV Video Music Awards will honor pop diva Rihanna with its Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which recognizes an artist's cultural impact, the network said Thursday. Rihanna will receive the award and perform at the annual awards extravaganza to take place on August 28 at New York's Madison Square Garden, MTV said in a statement. Rihanna, while just 28, has emerged as one of the most successful musicians of her era.

A recent report by UK-based research firm YouGov has identified nostalgic, middle-aged introverts to be at the heart of the resurgence of vinyl record sales. Sales for vinyl records topped one million units last year, marking somewhat of a comeback, and according to the report, the majority of vinyl buyers are aged between 45 and 54, with 18 to 24-year-olds least likely to buy their albums on wax.

The actor and comedian Ricky Gervais will release a 15-track album on August 19, the same day his movie "Life on the Road" opens in UK cinemas. The mock documentary "David Brent: Life on the Road" follows Ricky Gervais' fictional character — famous from the 2001-2003 UK TV series "The Office — as he attempts to realize his dream of becoming a successful musician with his band "Foregone Conclusion". Brent even has to use his pension money to pay the other band members, and he holds his bandmate Dom Johnson (played by comedian Ben Bailey Smith, aka Doc Brown) back from potential success.
